A young couple on the way to hospital for the birth of their first child have been killed in a hit-and-run in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Police said the couple's baby boy was delivered prematurely after the accident early on Sunday in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighbourhood. He was taken to a hospital in a serious condition.
Nathan Glauber and Raizy Glauber, both 21, were taken to area hospitals where they were pronounced dead.
The driver of their car is in a stable condition.
Authorities said the driver and passenger of a car which collided with their vehicle fled on foot. A search is underway.
Brooklyn Hasidic community activist Isaac Abraham said the Jewish couple were using a car service to get to the hospital when the accident took place.
